PKSA Karate’s exciting Scavenger Hunt is today, Aug 19.
This creative fundraiser features over 75 clues and is using Instagram to record the points. Teams of up to four are competing to get the most points during a 2 hour time limit. They race around town taking pictures of various hints: someone wearing a red hat; a picture of something round or maybe the entire team reciting the Personal Development Creeds of PKSA Karate. The photos are then posted to Instagram with the hashtags: #pksahunt #getgordon and #pksala.
The team with the highest points receives a $100 cash prize.
This activity is raising funds for the annual tournament trip to Detroit, Michigan for the PKSA Karate LAMP Tournament. The LAMP Tournament takes place in March of each year and is named after martial artist, Frank Lamp. He was a PKSA Karate black belt who died of brain cancer in 2000 and the Tournament was renamed in his honor. Each year 650+ competitors spend two days competing in divisions of forms, sparring, weapons, board breaking and Black Belt divisions.
“Rather than doing another car wash or jambalaya sale,” says Rachael Tullier, 2nd degree black belt at PKSA Karate Louisiana, “I thought this would be an exciting way to let all the students have some fun and promote school spirit at the same time.” Tullier is the daughter of the owners of the school and has been competing in the LAMP Tournament since 2013 and has brought home numerous medals.
There are several business sponsors for the Scavenger Hunt with Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys being the largest sponsor. Other sponsors include Sweet Robicheaux, Elegant Affairs and Bajewski Law Firm.
The hunt starts at 1:00 pm and launches from two locations of PKSA Karate: Baton Rouge and Prairieville. FOLLOW THE #PKSAhunt ON INSTAGRAM @pksala
